Gilat Ben-Dor

Gilat Ben-Dor is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist and photographer based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her work is distinguished by rich color, tactile surfaces, and vibrant visual narratives that embody a life philosophy rooted in passion, autonomy, and creative curiosity. Drawing on a global perspective shaped by living and studying on four continents, her work explores themes of women, music, culture, the performing arts, and the natural world across watercolor, ink, hand-painted silk, photography, and high-texture mixed media.

Ben-Dor holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Brandeis University and studied fresco painting at L’Istituto Lorenzo de’ Medici in Florence, Italy, with extended artistic study in Japan.

Her work has been featured in prestigious museum and institutional exhibitions, including My Water, My Culture, a two-year traveling exhibition originating at the Arizona Capitol Museum with the Museum of Arizona Artists (2025–2027); The City: An Artist’s Perspective at the Sasse Museum of Art in Pomona, California (2026); and the Japan Exhibit at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix (2026). Additional institutional presentations include Perspectives of Greater Phoenix with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and multiple curated exhibitions at the Herberger Theater Center and Phoenix Center for the Arts.

Over the course of her career, Ben-Dor has been invited into over 100 exhibitions in galleries, museums, and cultural institutions in the United States and internationally.

In addition to her studio work, Ben-Dor is the author of three books celebrating creativity and multidimensional living. Her professional experience also includes roles as curator, university faculty member in art and design, creativity coach, and speaker. A five-time certified wine sommelier, she occasionally incorporates wine and other unconventional materials into her mixed media works.
